Story

光 combines the idea of fire or light above with human legs below, showing light shining outward. In ancient forms, it pictured flames or brightness spreading and reaching far. The image suggests something glowing and expanding into the surrounding space. From this idea, 光 came to mean light, brightness, or shining.
