The kanji 雪 is made from two parts: ⺆ (small ice or roof) and 彐 (animal’s head, used for sound) on top of 八 (divide). The top shows falling flakes, and the bottom shows ice or cold spreading. Together, it creates the image of cold flakes falling from the sky — snow. Over time, 雪 came to mean “snow” or the idea of frozen flakes that cover the ground in winter.
Shows ice or flakes falling from the sky — 雪 represents snow or something cold and frozen.
This kanji says: imagine tiny ice flakes slowly falling from the sky, covering the ground and trees. The roof-like top (⺆) shelters them as they drift, while the bottom shows the spread of cold on the earth. 雪 means snow — remember it by picturing quiet, soft flakes gently falling everywhere.
