Story

The kanji 八 originally came from the image of two lines spreading outward from a single point. In ancient writing, it symbolized “to divide” or “to separate,” as if things were branching apart. Over time, it came to represent the number eight, a lucky number in many cultures because of its balanced and open shape. The widening lines of 八 express expansion, growth, and good fortune spreading in all directions.
