Story

浅 is made from the water radical 氵 on the left and 戋 on the right. 氵 represents water. 戋 has the idea of something small, thin, or not deep. When water is only a little amount or does not go far down, it is not deep. From this idea of limited depth in water, 浅 came to mean shallow.

Short Story

浅 is water that does not go deep.
