Story

The kanji 土 comes from the image of a mound of earth rising above the ground. In ancient script, it showed a line for the surface and a small lump of soil on top — the symbol of land, foundation, and life itself. Everything grows from soil, and everything returns to it. That’s why 土 carries meanings like earth, ground, and land — the very base upon which humans and nature stand.
