Stroke Order
Story
The kanji 右 combines the radical for “hand” (口 in older forms actually represented a hand, not a mouth) and the part for “divine authority” or “direction” (ナ). In ancient times, the right hand was considered the stronger or sacred hand — the one used to hold offerings or perform rituals. Because of this, 右 came to represent the “right” side, the side of action, power, and respect.
